I am helping to organize the Mobile Widget Camp on May 2, so if you’re interested in making Vodafone/Opera mobile widgets I definitely encourage you to come to this event. We’ve got some great speakers in the morning, including PPK of Quirksmode fame, and then will have workshops and coding sessions in the afternoon. I hope to see you there!

Hi guys, I’ve only now recovered for a wild time at The Next Web! Definitely my highlight of the whole event was the nice Mobile Dev Camp we had. While I’ll be honest that it wasn’t as large as I might have hoped, I think we more than made up for it with some nice mobile widgets being created and some good talks on everything from iPhone App Store Rejections to Android Q&A to Mobile Widget Development. As always, thanks to our sponsors Forum Nokia, Vodafone, and The Next Web for making it possible.
You can now signup for Mobile Dev Camp on April 15 by going to http://amsterdam.mobiledevcamp.eu/about/signup/!
Update: You can signup here.
The Next Web Conference will be held on April 15-17 in Amsterdam. To complement the main days (April 16 & 17), on the first day there will be three smaller events: Mobile Dev Camp, Music & Bits and The Current Web. On the 15th of April we’re teaming up with Music & Bits to talk about the future of music and mobile in the heart of the city at Spaces (Herengracht 124-128). While each event will have its own track, we’re taking care to schedule things so you can combine the two events.
This Mobile Dev Camp will be a BarCamp-style unconference, which means that you the attendees create the schedule. Want to host a discussion, run a workshop, demo your product or even just sit in the corner and code – you’re welcome to do it all! As with all Mobile Dev Camps the main goal is to bring together developers and, ultimately, create new mobile applications. To give you some added encouragement, Forum Nokia is sponsoring the Hackathon and giving away some Nokia 5800 XpressMusic devices for the best Web Runtime widgets. Vodafone and The Next Web are also essential sponsors.
Next Web Conference ticket holders get priority signup to the event, though we will open once the signups to everybody soon. We only have a limited amount of space, so be sure to sign up quickly! We will open the doors at 10:00 for coffee and start the program at 11:00 sharp. We’ll wrap up the event at 17:00 but remember to stick around afterwards and join all the mobile developers and web music experts for a few drinks at the bar! Contact Peter Robinett (Mobile Dev Camp) or Edial Dekker (Music & Bits) for more info.
I’ve been trying to prep an MDC for March 7 (I believe there was even a mention of it at the last MoMo) but I don’t think I’ll be able to get everything together in time. Sorry about that! If you are looking for a mobile event in early March, I encourage you to check out Adobe User Group Nederland’s Mobile Madness event on March 11. The next Mobile Dev Camp in Amsterdam will be on April 15 as part of The Next Web Conference. More information to come as I have it.
If you have any comments or suggestions, please email me at peter@mobiledevcamp.eu. Thanks!
Mobile Dev Camp is going international with Mobile Dev Camp Helsinki on February 21. Please join us for a day of mobile hacking and talks right downtown! Check out www.mobiledevcamp.fi for more information.
I’m helping to organize the Android Dev Camp on January 8 in Amsterdam. It should be a great event that builds on the what you heard about Android at Mobile Dev Camp at the end of November and will prepare you for the coming launch of the T-Mobile G1. Please join us!
